The Brief
What is a monolith?
One answer is that it is one thing. A single block. A form with no visible parts.
But this is already strange, because almost nothing is really one thing. A building has doors, windows, rooms. An outfit has garments. We understand things by breaking them apart.
A monolith refuses this. It gives you nothing to separate. There are no details that explain the whole. It simply stands there, complete and convinced of its completeness.
The monolith does not ask to be understood. It does not need ten good ideas. It has one idea, and insists on it completely.
So this week, the question is simple: can an outfit do the same?
