Uniqlo x Mame Kurogouchi

Uniqlo x Mame Kurogouchi is a collaborative apparel line combining Japanese high-fashion design with mass-produced functional clothing. The aesthetic focuses on organic silhouettes, muted tones, and textured knits. It reflects an ethos of understated elegance, emphasizing the technical construction of garments that function as both innerwear and visible layers.

Fashion History

Launched in 2021, this partnership integrated Maiko Kurogouchi’s design philosophy into Uniqlo's production framework. Kurogouchi, previously of Miyake Design Studio, founded her independent label in 2010. The collaboration utilized technical textiles like AIRism to create specialized innerwear. It represents a period in fashion history where the distinction between private undergarments and public attire became increasingly fluid, influenced by global shifts toward home-centric lifestyles and functional minimalism.
