Description
Studio Tomboy is a South Korean fashion brand characterized by its gender-neutral aesthetic and oversized silhouettes. It represents a subculture that rejects traditional feminine dress codes in favor of minimalist, functional designs. The brand emphasizes individual expression through loose-fitting garments and clean, architectural lines.
History
Established in 1977 as Tomboy, it was the first casual womenswear brand in South Korea. After facing financial difficulties, Shinsegae International acquired the label in 2011 and rebranded it as Studio Tomboy in 2016. The brand holds historical significance for introducing androgynous fashion to the Korean market. It transitioned from a traditional apparel company to a contemporary label that influenced the shift toward gender-fluid styling in East Asian fashion history.
