Description
Rock & Republic is an American denim and apparel brand known for its distressed, embellished jeans and rock-influenced aesthetic. The label draws on the imagery of rock music, motorcycle culture, and vintage Americana. It reflects a subculture centered on rebellious, workwear-derived styling.
History
Rock & Republic was founded in 2002 in Los Angeles by Nicole Richie-era designers and partners Kenneth Cole's associate Ron Gilbert in collaboration with Gilbert and Bryan Rulebaker. The brand gained visibility in the mid-2000s through celebrity wear and denim popularity during the premium denim boom. It was acquired by Iconix Brand Group in 2009 and later sold, with its licensing expanding across retail channels. The brand is notable as an example of the early-2000s premium denim market.
