History

Kenzo Takada founded the brand in 1970 after moving from Japan to Paris. He opened his first boutique, Jungle Jap, which introduced a distinct cross-cultural perspective to the French fashion scene. The brand gained significance for breaking traditional Parisian couture norms through oversized silhouettes and diverse textile choices. In 1993, the luxury conglomerate LVMH acquired the company. Kenzo remains a pivotal example of the globalization of fashion and the integration of non-Western influences.
