Description
John Varvatos is an American luxury menswear brand defined by a rock-and-roll aesthetic. It blends traditional tailoring with vintage-inspired, rugged elements. The brand represents a rebellious yet sophisticated ethos, drawing heavily from the subcultures of classic and contemporary rock music.
History
John Varvatos launched his namesake label in 2000 after serving as head of menswear design at Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. The brand gained cultural significance by integrating music heritage into fashion, notably through its 2008 acquisition of the former CBGB space in New York City. This location preserved a historic punk rock landmark. Varvatos is also recognized for introducing the laceless sneaker through a long-term collaboration with Converse.
