History

Jacobi Press founded the company in 1902 on the Yale University campus in New Haven, Connecticut. The brand became a primary architect of the mid-century Ivy League look, characterized by the three-button sack suit and button-down collars. Unlike many competitors, J.Press maintained its commitment to traditional tailoring specifications throughout the twentieth century. In 1986, the Japanese firm Onward Kashiyama acquired the brand, facilitating its expansion while preserving its historical aesthetic standards.
