Shayne Oliver founded Hood By Air in 2006. The brand gained prominence for integrating Black and queer aesthetics into the mainstream fashion industry. It received the LVMH Special Prize in 2014 and the CFDA Swarovski Award in 2015. HBA is recognized for pioneering the luxury streetwear movement before its hiatus in 2017.
