Eland

Eland is a South Korean fashion brand characterized by its interpretation of the American Ivy League aesthetic. The brand focuses on traditional collegiate styles, incorporating elements of preppy attire and classic casual wear. It represents a subculture centered on academic heritage and conservative, functional design principles.

History

Founded in 1980 by Park Sung-soo as a small shop named England near Ewha Womans University, the brand rebranded to Eland in 1986. It played a pivotal role in introducing Western-style casual fashion to the South Korean market. The company transitioned from a single retail outlet into a global conglomerate, influencing domestic retail structures and establishing a standardized franchise model for apparel distribution in East Asia during the late twentieth century.
