History

Marquis Mills Converse founded the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in 1908 in Malden, Massachusetts. The introduction of the All Star basketball shoe in 1917, later endorsed by Chuck Taylor, established the brand's presence in athletics. Over decades, the footwear transitioned from professional sports equipment to a staple of global street fashion. It played a significant role in the visual identity of punk, grunge, and hip-hop movements throughout the twentieth century.
