Chopova Lowena is a London-based label blending Bulgarian folklore with rock climbing aesthetics and punk subculture. The brand utilizes deadstock fabrics and traditional craft techniques to create eclectic, high-contrast garments. Its ethos centers on sustainability and the preservation of heritage through a modern, subversive lens.
History
Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena founded the brand after meeting at Central Saint Martins. The label gained prominence for its signature carabiner-clip kilts, which repurpose vintage Bulgarian aprons. In 2020, the duo was named co-winners of the LVMH Prize. Chopova Lowena is recognized for challenging traditional luxury standards by integrating recycled materials and artisanal production methods into contemporary high fashion, influencing the industry's approach to upcycling and cultural fusion.
