Anchor Blue

Anchor Blue was a retail clothing chain specializing in casual youth apparel and denim. The brand emphasized a West Coast aesthetic rooted in surf and skate subcultures. Its ethos focused on everyday apparel for teenagers, prioritizing functional denim and graphic-heavy streetwear designs.

History

The company originated in 1972 as Miller's Outpost, founded by Lou and Dave Miller in Ontario, California. It rebranded as Anchor Blue in the late 1990s. The retailer operated as a fixture of American mall culture, primarily in the Western United States. Following financial challenges, the company filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and 2011, which led to the permanent closure of all retail locations.
