Modegeschiedenis
Bausch & Lomb founded Ray-Ban in 1936 to create protective eyewear for United States Army Air Corps pilots. The Aviator model addressed glare issues faced by aviators at high altitudes. In 1952, the brand introduced the Wayfarer, which became a staple of mid-century design. Ray-Ban transitioned from military equipment to a cultural icon through its frequent appearance in Hollywood films and adoption by musicians. Luxottica Group acquired the brand in 1999.
