Max Azria founded the brand in 1989, applying the concept of high-fashion aesthetics to accessible price points. This model contributed to the growth of the contemporary category in the United States. In 1998, the company acquired the French couture house Hervé Léger. The brand maintained a consistent presence at New York Fashion Week for over two decades, representing a shift toward globalized ready-to-wear fashion during the late twentieth century.
