Adidas Skateboarding was launched in 2015 as a dedicated line of skate shoes, apparel, and accessories, building on earlier skate-related products from the parent company. Adidas, founded by Adi Dassler in Herzogenaurach, Germany, in 1949, had long produced athletic footwear. The division has partnered with professional skateboarders and independent skate brands, and its Busenitz and Campana models reflect this collaboration. Its release of skate shoes with padded tongues and reinforced soles followed the sport's demand for durable footwear.
