The collaboration launched in early 2022 as a creative partnership between Ye, Gap, and Balenciaga’s creative director, Demna. It aimed to merge luxury design with Gap’s retail infrastructure. The project gained cultural significance for its unconventional marketing and retail displays. However, Gap terminated the partnership in late 2022 following controversial public statements made by Ye. This collaboration remains a notable example of the intersection between high-end couture and global mass-market apparel.
