SILAS is a British streetwear brand rooted in skateboarding culture and London’s independent creative scene. Its aesthetic combines traditional British menswear elements with graphic-heavy skate apparel. The brand represents a subcultural ethos that prioritizes artistic collaboration, underground music influences, and a structured approach to casual street clothing.
Geschiedenis
Founded in 1998 by Russell Waterman and Sofia Maria Prantera, SILAS emerged from the London skate shop Slam City Skates. The brand gained international recognition through its association with artist James Jarvis and the creation of collectible vinyl toys. It played a significant role in the late 1990s streetwear movement, establishing a bridge between British youth culture and the Japanese Ura-Harajuku scene before Prantera later founded the label Aries.
