Modehistoria
German designer Melitta Baumeister founded her namesake label in 2013 following her graduation from the Parsons School of Design MFA program. The brand gained international recognition after being selected for the VFiles runway and later becoming a semi-finalist for the 2016 LVMH Prize. Baumeister’s work is significant for its rejection of conventional garment construction, utilizing techniques like bonding and molding to create three-dimensional shapes that challenge standard fashion silhouettes.
